The Permanent Fix for Missing Teeth

You never want missing teeth to hold you back. At Wellesley Family Dental, we can help you decide whether or not an implant is the right solution for you.

What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a permanent solution for missing teeth and is often an alternative for dentures or bridgework. It works by replacing the root of the tooth with a metal, screw-like post. Since the titanium material in the implant can fuse into the jawbone, the implants will not slip, make noise, or cause any bone damage. The material does not decay, allowing the implant to support other bridgework in the mouth and, overall, offers a reliable, permanent solution to replace teeth.

The 3 Key Parts of an Implant
There are 3 key parts to an effective dental implant:
1) Implant. The metal implant itself that acts as the root of the tooth.
2) Abutment. This serves as the secure and stable base for the final restoration.
3) Restoration. This is the part of the implant that looks like a tooth you will see while smiling. We offer many different restoration options including crowns, implant-supported dentures, bridges, and partial dentures.

Is An Implant Right for Me?
There are many reasons why a dental implant may be the most effective solution for your dental issues:
  • You have one or more teeth missing
  • You need to use a bridge, or the one you have is losing structural integrity
  • Your dentures are sliding in your mouth due to bone loss
  • You are losing facial structure and contour due to bone loss from the missing teeth
  • You want a natural looking smile that allows you to eat, drink, and talk like you did before you lost your teeth
  • You want a pain-free, cost effective, permanent dental solution that will last you a lifetime
